Regional Manager - Solar (Photovoltaic) (m/f/n)

Key Responsibilities: 

Site Management:

  • supervising and overseeing the solar farm(s), ensuring that the client’s specifications and requirements are met, reviewing progress and liaising closely with Solar Asset Manager, projects and technical services
  • liaising with the client, other professionals, visitors, and members of the public
  • involved with hiring team members
  • coordinating and supervising team members
  • maintaining plant, spares, equipment and vehicles
  • involved in selecting tools and materials
  • making safety inspections and ensuring site safety
  • checking and preparing site reports, designs and drawings
  • maintaining quality control procedures
  • monitoring alarms and performance of the plant and equipment
  • finding ways to prevent problems and to solve any that crop up
  • assessing and minimizing risk
  • writing reports and keeping on top of paperwork
  • involved in negotiating supply and subcontractor contracts as well as securing permits and licences
  • involved in controlling local budgets and costs for the solar farm(s)
  • Resource management of assigned equipment, plant and people within assigned solar farm(s) including but not limited to leave approvals
  • Management of on-site subcontractors and visitors including
    • Inductions
    • On-site WHS documentation including printing and filing of SWMS, licences, etc.

Maintenance, repair and retrofitting:

  • Take part in planning of and commit to annual maintenance schedule
  • Coordinate and deliver annual maintenance within acceptable timeframes
  • Respond to faults within guidelines
  • Plan and support additional project and site rectification work

Typical tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Execute works in accordance with preventive maintenance program
  • Works on-site are usually scheduled in close consultation with the Solar Asset Manager and include but are not limited to:
    • Replacement of key components, such as PV modules, tracker motors & inverters
    • Cleaning of modules, inverters or associated electrical components
    • Servicing of datalogger and communication equipment
    • Civil works and ground maintenance (where required)
  • Promptly identify, locate, and respond to all fault situations
  • Execution of project works (which may be with assistance/supervision of Subcontractor)
  • Continuous and timely documentation of all site works with agreed systems, templates or reporting structure
  • Carry out Due Diligence site and paperwork inspections

Documentation

  • WHS – Induction, Prestart, Take5, SOP’s, SWMS’s
  • Daily time tracking of each working hour allocated to sites or projects (by using time tracking system)
    • including the supervision of such entries of your direct reports
  • Full documentation of all work performed in the ENcome CMMS system
  • including the supervision of such entries of your direct reports

Additional Work:

  • Basic understanding of which services are included in ENcome’s service contract for the allocated site(s) and identify continuously where works are not included in the scope
  • Proactive identification of potentially necessary and appropriate additional works or retrofitting’s for the PV installation

Interface function / Direct reporting lines

  • Continuous reporting to Solar Asset Manager
  • Supervise team members, Field Technicians or Trade Assistants of the assigned solar farm(s)
  • Including training in tools used by ENcome (e.g. CMMS, Accounting, etc.)
  • Supervise, liaise and support technical services (such as vegetation management) for delivery of additional services for the solar farm(s)
  • liaising with the client, other professionals, visitors, and members of the public
  • Development and maintain good team dynamics
  • Implementation of Performance Management measures where necessary using tools provided by ENcome Australia Management for direct reporting lines

Integrated Management System (IMS) 

  • Abide by the WHS, Environment, and Quality processes established by ENcome Australia Management
  • Help develop and review local IMS procedures
  • Induct workers and visitors to site, maintaining documentation
  • Conduct and file Daily Pre-Start meetings documentation
  • Reporting and investigating incidents and near misses
  • Use the lone working protection system/process as provided by ENcome where required
  • Ensure team members familiar with and following IMS procedures
  • Making safety inspections and ensuring site safety

Training

  • Keeps an updated level of knowledge in their area of expertise by ongoing trainings

Skills:

  • Excellent photovoltaic knowledge, particularly in construction, commissioning and maintenance of solar power plants
  • Ability to plan and coordinate work and resources
  • Ability to respond to and diagnose plant issues/faults
  • Using software to manage and record site and project work
  • Use SCADA to review alarms and performance of plant
  • Ability to work with and manage site technicians, contractors and trades assistants
  • Microsoft software – Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to make use of IT equipment (software and hardware) to connect to solar farm components
  • Ability to use software tools and methodologies to analyse plant performance to support root cause analysis

Experience/Qualifications: 

  • 10 years’ experience as an industrial electrician working on Low Voltage (LV) systems
  • Experience in a Regional, State or National multi-site role. Preferable in an industrial, and or Operations & Maintenance environment
  • Experience in wage management and rostering
  • 5 years’ experience as an industrial electrician working on High Voltage (HV) systems with High Voltage Switching Operator experience
  • Experience working on DC electrical systems
  • Experience in Induction & Training of new staff and implementation of company policies and procedures
  • Experience with Data Communications (optic fibre, SCADA, data logger, routers, data bus system, internet connections
  • WHS reporting experience
  • Experience in working with trades, technicians and capability to interface with clients
  • Experience in the field of and passion for renewable energies, large-scale solar photovoltaics installations
  • A valid Electrical Qualification for performing all electrical works relevant to Solar Farms and the respective Australian state
  • A valid Driver’s Licence
  • Relevant Safety Certifications – White card
  • Valid First Aid & Low Voltage Rescue / Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (LVR/CPR) accreditation
  • Valid High Voltage Switching Operations (HSVO) Certificate
